
Women Served / Babies Saved
In 2009, EPS assisted over 4400 women and families. There were 1240 new babies discovered at the center and 121 of the abortion minded women that were provided options counseling, changed their minds. EPS provided 1831 women and infants with much needed diapers, formula, maternity clothing and layettes. EPS performed 216 life affirming ultrasounds to the clients that came in our doors – at no cost to them.
EPS is critical to the marginalized and underserved members of our community. Duval County’s statistics remain higher than the nation’s in percentages of low birth weights and infant mortality. Health Zone 1 (Urban Core) in Duval County, where 75% of the Jacksonville center’s clients live, contains the highest rates of negative child health indicators. These measures include infant mortality, low birth weights, late prenatal care, teen birth rates and percents of poverty, unemployment and uninsured families.
